I am a product developer and cook based out of Toronto, Canada. I live with my husband Marco and our springer spaniel, Riker.

After graduating from the University of Toronto with a B.A. in French Language and Literature, I decided to go back to school and pursue my culinary dreams. I enrolled in Humber College’s Culinary Skills Program in 2010, which culminated in an internship at Jules Patisserie in Toronto. After completing the internship, I was hired by Jules Patisserie as their Assistant Pastry Chef. I obtained my Culinary Skills Certificate that same year and was awarded the Jack Hemming Scholarship by Humber College.

In 2012, I took on the role of Head Pastry Chef at Mabel’s Bakery (a chain of bakeries that has since been purchased by Fresh City Farms).

In 2013 I embarked on another internship, this time in the Canadian Living Test Kitchen. In October of that year I had my first recipe published by Canadian Living in their print and digital magazine. As the only intern in Canadian Living history to have a credited recipe in print, I was especially pleased (see below).

Canadian Living’s Cocktail Fridays: Dragon Fruit Martini by Tyler Christian Brown

“This year, we had a great Test Kitchen intern named Tyler Christian Brown, who we absolutely loved. We loved him so much, in fact, that we had him develop a delicious cocktail for our October issue — and he did a fantastic job. We loved the fresh tropical flavours in this super stylish black and white martini.” – Canadian Living, November 23, 2013

In 2014 the editorial team at National Geographic Traveler asked if they could include my food photography in their June/July 2014 digital issue. Obviously I was thrilled and agreed to have my photo featured. I took it on my first trip to India, before tucking into a plate of momos at Kunga Restaurant in Darjeeling.

In 2014 I accepted the role of Product Developer at DOM International, a value-added seafood company located in Toronto. I have been there ever since as the sole product developer on staff.

In my current role I develop value-added seafood items for DOM, and the house brands of Canada’s major grocery chains. From ideation to supervising initial production runs, I am responsible for the whole product development process.

In my time at DOM International, I have created several products available for purchase at CostcoShoppers Drug MartLoblawsSobeys, and Metro.

Items I developed for the From Our Chefs label at Loblaws.

In 2020 I developed DOM Poke Singles, sold at Costco warehouses and Metro grocers across Canada. In 2021 the success of DOM Poke Singles in Canada led to an expansion into American Costco locations.

DOM Reserve Poke Singles won ‘Best New Retail Award’ at the 2022 North America Seafood Expo.

In late 2022 I developed and launched the Smoked Steelhead Salmon Ring available at Metro grocers across Canada.
