I ordered this dessert dim sum basket at Mother’s Dumplings in Toronto. Some fellow pastry chefs and I had just visited an exhibit at the Textile Museum and we were in the mood for a cheap and cheerful meal.
Our dinner was delicious. Dessert on the other hand……..yuck. Although they looked beautiful, they were sorely lacking in flavour.
The purple ones, or “purple goo” as I called it, had the consistency of partially cooked egg white and tasted of pancake batter. If you have ever flown Air Transat and thought “where can I buy these stale, flavourless muffins?”; you will love the dessert tray at Mother’s dumplings.
